Cost: ¥2,500 (ICF Japan members) or ¥3,500 (nonmembers). If you are a member of an organization registered as an ICFJ corporate partner, you may attend at the ICFJ member price of ¥2,500. Ever had a client who could not see the forest because he/she was concentrating too much on the trees? Or someone with a short attention span? Or someone with a blind spot regarding the impact of his/her behaviour? Use of selected props can help break through mental barriers to foster deeper awareness and faster results for clients.
At this interactive workshop, seasoned executive coach Tanja Bach, who is a certified Lego® Serious Play® facilitator and a certified Points of You® Practitioner, will introduce how play unlocks the unconscious to create breakthroughs for clients. Ms. Bach will demonstrate how you can help a client visualize his/her challenge in 3D and how to integrate props with your questioning and listening skills to create new insights for clients. Ms. Bach will offer real-life examples from her own experiences as a coach using legos in coaching sessions. She will also provide examples of other effective props.
There will be ample opportunity for experiential learning around creating awareness and active listening. You will have the opportunity to try out various props to experience firsthand their potential impact in coaching, both for you as the coach and for your client. We invite you to come prepared with a coaching challenge or an example of a challenging client you have faced in the past or one you think you may have to face in the future. If you have props that you might want to integrate in your own coaching sessions, bring them along so we can explore in the moment how to best use them.
This workshop focuses on ICF Core Competencies No. 8. Creating Awareness and No 5. Active Listening.
At our meeting, we will:
— Briefly review research regarding the unconscious
— Demonstrate the use of props by inviting participants to share a coaching challenge they have faced/will face
— Learn the different ways of using props during coaching
— Experiment with props while coaching each other in pairs or triads
— Earn essential Continuing Coach Education units for creating awareness and active listening
The Coaching in English Group is open to any coach or would-be coach of any nationality who uses or wants to use English professionally in their coaching sessions. Activities will be conducted in English.
